Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has firmly rejected the idea of selling their backup goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher during the upcoming summer transfer window.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has unequivocally refuted any claims suggesting that goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher will be leaving the club this summer. Despite reported interest from both Brentford and Tottenham, Klopp has firmly shut down any speculation surrounding the future of the talented shot-stopper.

Kelleher, 24, currently serves as the understudy to Liverpool’s first-choice goalkeeper Alisson, but has showcased immense potential during his limited appearances for the Reds. His performances have attracted attention from several Premier League clubs, who have been linked with a potential move for the Irish international in recent weeks.

Brentford, in particular, are expected to be in the market for a new goalkeeper as David Raya’s departure looms in the upcoming transfer window. Additionally, Tottenham are actively searching for a long-term successor to their current goalkeeper, Hugo Lloris.

Earlier this week, The Mail reported that Liverpool had set a price tag of £15 million for Kelleher, a figure deemed “unrealistic” by Brentford, considering the limited senior experience the young goalkeeper has amassed.

However, Klopp has now categorically dismissed any notion of Kelleher leaving Anfield, asserting the goalkeeper’s importance to the squad during his pre-match press conference on Friday.

“Caoimhin Kelleher? He has a contract! Are we supposed to say goodbye just in case?” Klopp exclaimed, displaying his confidence in retaining the young talent. “I honestly cannot see Caoimh leaving. It would require an extraordinary offer for me to even contemplate [selling him].”

While Klopp adamantly maintains that Kelleher will remain a Liverpool player in the coming weeks, the Reds will bid farewell to Roberto Firmino, Naby Keita, James Milner, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain as they play their final home game of the season on Saturday.
