Journalist Cast Doubt On Future Of Arsenal Duo.
Arsenal’s impressive form in the Premier League has left their fringe players increasingly concerned about their future at the club, with some experts suggesting that the likes of Albert Sambi Lokonga and Nuno Tavares may not feature in the Gunners’ long-term plans.
Lokonga, who was brought in from Belgian outfit Anderlecht for a substantial fee of £18m, and Tavares, who joined the North London club for a relatively modest sum of £8m from Portuguese side Benfica, have both failed to make a significant impact since their arrivals.
According to respected football journalist Dean Jones, their lack of involvement in Arsenal’s recent success makes it hard to envision a future for either player at the Emirates Stadium.
“It’s hard to see isn’t it? You look at the way that this team is moving forward and to go away and come back and be a big part of it is very difficult. It’s not impossible, but I’d have to say I have huge doubts about either having a future at Arsenal.”
Although he didn’t completely rule out the possibility, Jones did express significant doubt over whether they would play a big part in Arsenal’s future.
The Belgian midfielder is currently on loan at Crystal Palace while Nuno Tavares is with Ligue 1 side Olympique Marseille.
