Huge boost as three Chelsea Stars return to training ahead of Madrid Clash.
Real Madrid will be eager to recover from their recent setback against Villarreal in La Liga, as they prepare to take on Chelsea in the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals first leg. Despite the Spanish giants’ resolve to secure a victory, they have been dealt a blow with the return of Thiago Silva, a key defensive leader for Chelsea.
Silva, who has been absent due to a ligament injury, has missed several matches this year, including one of the Round of 16 clashes against Borussia Dortmund. However, he has now returned to training and is poised to make an impact against Real Madrid.
Moreover, Chelsea has been further strengthened with the return of two other key players, Mason Mount and N’Golo Kante, who have also resumed training ahead of the crucial match.
Mount, who has played an instrumental role for the Blues, contributing four assists in the UCL thus far, had been suffering from a broken pelvis. While he returned to training last week, he experienced a recurrence of the issue, which had cast doubt on his participation in the upcoming fixture.
Meanwhile, Kante has been struggling with a hamstring injury for the majority of the campaign. The French midfielder had recently made a full return to action but was left out of the Wolves clash over the weekend, as Frank Lampard sought to manage his recovery and fitness.
However, Kante, along with Mount and Silva, has returned to training, though it remains to be seen whether they will be available for selection against Real Madrid midweek.
