Harry Maguire hails Marcus Rashford, pinpoints when Man United panicked vs Charlton

Manchester United skipper Harry Maguire has been pleased with Marcus Rashford’s goalscoring form but also pointed out the moment they became nervy against Charlton.

Man United opened the scoring early in the game after Antony scored a beautiful curled goal but failed to kill the game off, which gave the visitors the belief they could fight back into the game.

Charlton became dangerous and won the ball several times inside United’s half and their fans behind Tom Heaton chanted tirelessly whenever this happened, which made it nervy for the United players to cope.

However, Rashford scored two goals late in the game to destroy whatever plans of coming back into the game.

Maguire told Sky Sports: “When it’s only 1-0 they are always in the game, when the put the ball in the box they’ve got all the fans behind the goal who were loud all night, it made it nervy and edgy.

“This club demands doing well in all competitions. Last season, not only were we really poor in the Premier League, we were really poor in all the cup competitions as well.”

On Marcus Rashford’s current goal-scoring form, the England international said: “He’s in great form, it’s great to see. Playing with a big smile on his face is the most important thing – enjoying his football, and long may it continue.”
