Harry Maguire Finally Makes Long-Awaited Career Decision As He Sends Request To Erik Ten Hag

The England International, Harry Maguire has gone down the picking order for Ten Hag but wants to fight for his place at the club.

The Manchester United Captain knew his long-term future at Manchester United was uncertain as soon as Erik Ten Hag arrived at the club and started giving him lesser game time.

Currently the United man always face competition from Raphael Varane and Victor Lindelof to start alongside Martinez which has limited his game time.

The French and Argentine Center-backs, Varane and Martinez, have already become the first-choice of Centre-backs for Ten Hag and the World Cup finalists have forged a strong relationship, which has seen United concede just 20 goals in the Premier League thus far.

Varane and Martinez partnership looks promising as United now have the fifth-best defensive record for a top division club.

The £80m defender had become fourth-choice in his position as Lindelof always starts ahead of him.

Even-though Maguire was outstanding for England at the World Cup, there have been some speculations questioning the system in which he plays at United. Some say he’s an excellent centre-back when playing in the right system and in the right team.

Nevertheless Ten Hag may plan to give the United captain some chance to fight for his position in the team. When he was asked about his future after the 3-0 win against Charlton, he stated his mind.

“It felt good, I played last week as well against Bournemouth. I was unfortunate in terms of when I come back from the World Cup, I had a bad illness,” Maguire told MUTV in his post-match interview. “It knocked me back for one or two weeks. I feel good now. We have a lot of good Centre halves at this club, there’s a lot of competition for places and I’ll keep fighting.”

The 29-year-old English defender wants to stay at the club at least till the end of the season as he may look to explore more options in other English club in the same division where he will get more game time.
