Graham Potter reacts to Joao Felix’s red card during Fulham defeat
Chelsea new signing Joao Felix’s debut was cut short following a red card he received against Fulham and Graham Potter had some comments about it.
The Blues completed the signing of Felix from Atletico Madrid on a short loan spell this week and Potter wasted no time to hand him his debut on Thursday against Fulham, thanks to the number of attacking players out injured.
Felix started the game brilliantly, created a decent chance early in the game but Kai Havertz failed to convert it from a close-range.
The Portuguese star was given the marching orders following a nasty challenge he did early in the second half and Chelsea, who only equalised Willian’s early goal shortly after the interval, would go on to lose the game 2-1 with ten men.
On Felix’s red card, Potter said: “It was a reaction from the side and it was a forward’s tackle.
“There was no malice. I understand the sending off. It is another blow. I thought he was good, you could see his quality in the game, so it is a double disappointment for us.”
