Frank Lampard has received more bad news regarding injuries as he disclosed the Chelsea team news ahead of their Premier League encounter with Manchester City.

Chelsea Manager Frank Lampard has been dealt another blow on the injury front, as he revealed the team news ahead of the crucial Premier League clash against Manchester City.

Lampard’s men are set to make the trip to the Etihad Stadium on Sunday, where they will face a formidable City side on the brink of securing yet another Premier League title under the guidance of Pep Guardiola.

While Lampard remains open to giving the hosts a guard of honor in the event of City’s title triumph being confirmed prior to kick-off – which would occur if Arsenal were to lose to Nottingham Forest – he is fully aware of the challenge that awaits his team.

The 44-year-old tactician stated,

“It is hard to predict how the game will unfold. Nevertheless, considering City’s recent string of victories and impressive performances, we have to be prepared to face the very best version of Manchester City.”

Throughout the season, Chelsea have grappled with injury setbacks, and as they approach the final three games of their campaign, the situation has not improved.

Reece James, Ben Chilwell, Marc Cucurella, Mason Mount, and N’Golo Kante are all still on the sidelines, and despite some positive updates regarding the fitness of Kalidou Koulibaly, the Senegalese defender is not deemed ready for a high-stakes encounter like the one against City.

Lampard provided an update on the team’s injury status, saying,

“We find ourselves in a similar situation to recent weeks. Mason, Reece, Chilly, N’Golo, and Marc Cucurella are not fit to play. Koulibaly has been training with the squad this week, but he is still not quite ready for a match of this magnitude. However, he is progressing ahead of schedule, which is encouraging.”

Adding to Chelsea’s defensive concerns, Lampard confirmed that Benoit Badiashile has suffered a groin injury during training and will be unavailable for selection on Sunday. The extent of his injury is currently being assessed.

“Benoit has injured himself in training two days ago, his groin, so will miss the game. We are assessing that as we speak.”

With mounting injury woes and a formidable opponent standing in their way, Chelsea faces an uphill battle as they aim to secure a positive result against the formidable Manchester City side.
