Fabrizio Romano provides update on Chelsea’s pursuit of Romeo Lavia
Chelsea have expressed a strong interest in Southampton’s talented young player Romeo Lavia and may have an edge in securing his transfer during the upcoming summer transfer window.
The 19-year-old midfielder, who joined Southampton from Manchester City last year, has impressed with his performances and is likely to attract attention following his team’s relegation from the Premier League.
Speaking about Chelsea’s pursuit of Lavia, Romano has highlighted the influence of their co-director of Recruitment and talent, Joe Shields.
Speaking to Give Me Sport, the Italian transfer insider said: “Romeo Lavia is a player Chelsea love. Chelsea have Joe Shields at the club, who is the director who signed Romeo Lavia for Manchester City’s Academy and then signed Romeo Lavia at Southampton.”
He added: “He’s the man who has built the career of Romeo Lavia, so it’s normal to have this kind of link. They are pursuing the player but it’s not the only option.”
