Fabrizio Romano confirms Chelsea’s Interest in 52years Old Champions League Winning Coach.
Chelsea Football Club are reportedly still in talks with former Spain and FC Barcelona manager Luis Enrique regarding a potential agreement to become their next permanent manager.
The news comes from renowned Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who revealed on the Here we go Podcast that Enrique is one of the two early favourites for the position, alongside Julian Nagelsmann.
Romano stated that negotiations are ongoing between Chelsea and both Enrique and Nagelsmann, but Nagelsmann remains the favourite to take over at Stamford Bridge this summer. However, he added that Enrique is still keen on the job and is being considered by the club as a potential candidate.
Romano said: “Who is going to be the Chelsea coach? That is the crucial question. As I mentioned before, they are speaking to Julian Nagelsmann, they are speaking to Luis Enrique. Nagelsmann remains the favourite for the future, Luis Enrique is still there and he wants the job.”
Enrique has been without a job since late 2022 when he was dismissed by the Spanish FA following their early exit from the FIFA World Cup in Qatar. Despite this setback, the 52-year-old remains highly regarded in the footballing world and is considered a strong contender for the Chelsea job.
