Everton will lock horns with Manchester United this weekend in the Premier League for the first time this season

Manchester United will face Everton away from home this weekend in the Premier League and below are our predicted starting lineups, team news and predictions.

Everton have been impressive in recent weeks and will look to maintain that when they welcome Man United at the Goodison Park on Sunday.

The Red Devils were trounced 6-3 by Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium last weekend but bounced back to winning ways following a tight 3-2 win over Omonia in the Europa League. It wasn’t the best reaction, given the quality in the squad Erik ten Hag had put out against the Cyprus side but they got the job done.

Now Ten Hag’s men will ensure they build on from there against the Toffees, although they will be making the trip to Merseyside without two of their centre-backs.

Manchester United Team News

The Red Devils will be without Harry Maguire in their travelling squad due to a muscle injury. The England international is expected to be out of action for two weeks and has already missed United’s last two games against Manchester City and Omonia. Raphael Varane could be fit in time for the Everton trip but Erik ten Hag would rather resist the temptation to rush him back into the firing line. He’s more likely to miss the trip with a foot injury.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Donny van de Beek remain doubts for the game, having missed a host of games through injury issues. Manchester United didn’t record any injury issues after Thursday’s win over Omonia.

Predicted Starting Lineup

Goalkeeper: David de Gea

Defenders: Diogo Dalot, Victor Lindelof, Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw

Midfielders: Scott McTominay, Christian Eriksen, Bruno Fernandes

Forwards: Antony, Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford

Everton Team News

The Toffees will be without Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who could return from a long-term groin injury later this month. Everton will also be without the likes of Mason Holgate [knee injury], Yerry Mina [ankle injury], Nathan Patterson [ankle/foot injury] Andros Townsend [knee injury] and Ben Godfrey [calf/shin/heel injury] due to injury issues, which will be a huge advantage for the Red Devils.

Predicted Starting Lineup

Goalkeeper: Jordan Pickford

Defenders: V. Mykolenko, James Tarkowski, Conor Coady, Séamus Coleman

Midfielders: Alex Iwobi, Idrissa Gueye, Amadou Onana

Forwards: Demarai Gray, Neal Maupay, Dwight McNeil

Predictions

Manchester United to win

The Red Devils are the favourites to get all three points at Goodison Park on Sunday evening and rightly so. Although they won Omonia 3-2, United are still eager to put last weekend’s defeat behind and a win over the Toffees would help reduce the nightmare. Manchester United have won six from their last games in all competitions, hence they are in top form, although Everton have won their last two matches against West Ham and Southampton.

Both teams to score YES

Everton are unbeaten in their last seven matches in all competitions and they got a draw off Liverpool. They are in a decent run of form, I will give them that. They are playing at home, so their chances of scoring at least one goal are decent. In their seven unbeaten matches, Everton only failed to score in one. Manchester United have scored at least one goal in all but one in their last eight matches.

Over 2.5 goals

Both teams are expected to get at least one goal each but Manchester United are expected to win the game so the game producing three goals is high. A friendly reminder; United scored three goals each in their last three matches.
