Erling Haaland Sets New Premier League Record Following Victory Against Leeds United

Manchester City’s fight to maintain their Premier League title after the World Cup continues and their pursuit of current league leaders Arsenal appears to be a lethal hunt, with Erling Haaland, their goal machine leading the charge with his goals.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola had previously cautioned about the importance of winning their games because they cannot afford any slip-ups, and Erling Haaland took the warning extremely seriously, returning all focus to himself after a six-week absence from the world’s largest stage.

The Norwegian striker scored two goals in Manchester City’s first game following the World Cup, breaking the Premier League record for the fastest player to score 20 league goals in only 14 games. Kevin Phillips previously held the record with 20 goals in 21 games.

Haaland has currently scored more than nine Premier League clubs this season with 20 goals before the new year of his debut season at Manchester City. The forward, on the other hand, was dissatisfied with his performance on the match day, believing he could have scored more goals. In his post-match press conference, he said:

“Today, I could’ve scored five goals, I ‘only’ scored two, but for me, the most important thing is to win and to come to chances, if [we do] those to things, then I’m really happy.”

The 22 year old now holds the record as the fastest player to score 20 goals in Premier League and is right on track to breaking Mohamed Salah’s 32 goals in a season record.

Manchester City continues to chase their league title as they have returned to second place just five points behind Arsenal. They will look to win in their next game where they will host Everton.
