Erik ten Hag has suggested how Manchester United can bounce back to the top and start challenging for top honours.

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has warned his players against being complacent as that isn’t healthy for a team trying to bounce back to the top and start winning trophies.

Man United appointed Ten Hag as their new boss over the summer in a bid to help take the club back to the top and challenge for silverware.

The Dutchman has done well in the first half of the season and many fans are anticipating the former Ajax manager to end the season on a high, thanks to how he’s gradually implementing his philosophy into a squad that finished 6th in the league last season.

However, Ten Hag believes a team has to be hungry at all times if they want to maintain certain high standards and agreed that it is his duty to ensure his players don’t get complacent.

“I always say satisfaction makes you lazy. If you are too satisfied with yourself and the team, you will not maintain those high standards. It’s up to me to control that and set a good example,” Ten Hag said.

“We have to live the high standards all the time and then we can compete with the best clubs in the Premier League and achieve our goals.”

Manchester United are three points off the 4th position with one game in hand and four points off 3rd place Newcastle United, who have played a game more as well.

The Red Devils are playing really well but there’s always room for improvement and that’s exactly what Erik ten Hag plans to achieve when club action returns next week.

Manchester United will return to action with a home game against Burnley in the Carabao Cup fourth round and Ten Hag will only think about going through to the next stage of the competition.

United will then face Nottingham Forest at Old Trafford in the Premier League and that’s another chance to close in on their top four rivals.
