Erik Ten Hag Reportedly ‘Set Audacious Asking Price For Coveted Man Utd Star Man ‘Based On Experience In Premier League’

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag is reportedly having an asking price in mind for Scott McTominay and is ‘willing to let United hierarchy listen to offers’ for the Scotland midfielder, according to reports earlier today.

McTominay has been out of the squad in recent weeks due to an injury and has been struggling for first-team minutes at Old Trafford this season, but made a cameo in United’s emphatic 3-0 win over Leicester City on Sunday.

United manager Erik ten Hag has opted for an effective midfield partnership between summer signings Casemiro and Christian Eriksen for much of this season.

And McTominay, who is under contract with United until 2025, has since fallen down the midfield pecking order under Ten Hag along with teammate Fred.

It is believed that McTominay is one of the names on United’s chopping block in the summer, as Ten Hag hopes to free up his squad ahead of his continued rebuild.

According to Football Insider, United are eying up a hefty £25m fee for McTominay in the upcoming transfer window.

The publication reports that the Red Devils believe the Scotland international’s ‘experience in the Premier League’ warrants the £25m price tag.

It is added that United have not made a ‘final decision’ on the future of McTominay, who came through the Premier League club’s youth academy.

However, the United midfielder is ‘likely going to be among a host of players’ that the Red Devils will attempt to offload from Old Trafford in the summer window.

United have the option to extend McTominay’s current contract beyond 2025 by 12 months thanks to a clause in his deal.

McTominay made his breakthrough at United under Jose Mourinho and has made 195 senior appearances for the club, despite not winning any major silverware in his career.

The United star featured predominately under Mourinho’s successor at Old Trafford, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and interim manager Ralf Rangnick.
