Erik ten Hag gives injury update on Donny van de Beek ahead of Man City tie
Erik ten Hag has confirmed that Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek has been ruled out of the season with a knee injury.
Van de Beek made his last appearance for Man United last week during United’s 3-0 win over Bournemouth in the Premier League.
The Dutchman was forced off injured on the stroke of first half after he collided with a Bournemouth player and was replaced by Alejandro Garnacho.
Van de Beek is now set on missing the remainder of the season with a knee injury and Ten Hag confirmed the sad news during his press conference ahead of the Manchester City clash.
“It’s his knee. In the long-term it is looking really good and he will be back for the start of pre-season. The rest of the season he is out,” Ten Hag said.
“I think everyone was really, thoughts are with him [Van de Beek], it is terrible when you are in a middle of a season and you get a bad tackle, bad injury, it is always really disappointing and thoughts, your feelings are with the player, you express that.
“Our group did that really well and we are now happy his knee on the long-term is good. Donny is also happy with that. But In the same moments, there are mixed feelings and disappointment he is out of this season.”
