Done Deal: Arsenal Starlet Joins New Club on Loan
In a surprise move, highly-rated Arsenal defender Brooke Norton-Cuffy has joined Championship side Coventry City on loan for the remainder of the 2022-23 season.
The 18-year-old had been spending the first half of the campaign with Rotherham United, where he recorded two assists in 20 appearances and started 14 matches.
Coventry City manager Mark Robins expressed excitement over the acquisition of Norton-Cuffy, who had been a target for the club during the summer transfer window. “We are delighted to welcome Brooke to Coventry City on loan until the end of the season,” said Robins. “He is a strong and powerful wing-back with great pedigree and attitude, who will add further quality to our squad.”
Norton-Cuffy, a member of England’s Under-19 European Championship-winning team last year, was equally thrilled about the move. “I’m over the moon the deal is done to be honest,” he said. “It’s a new start and a new journey for me and I just can’t wait to get started now.”
The young defender joined the Arsenal youth system in 2016 after leaving Chelsea and has made 17 appearances for the club’s Under-21 team, but is yet to make his senior debut for the Gunners.
With Coventry City, Norton-Cuffy will have the opportunity to gain valuable first-team experience and make a case for a future spot in the Arsenal squad.
