David de Gea believes Manchester United were in total control of the game until the final 10 minutes, while Bruno Fernandes thinks United’s togetherness played a role in the victory.

Manchester United duo Bruno Fernandes and David de Gea have reacted to their tight win over Everton on Sunday in the Premier League.

Man United successfully bounced back to winning ways in the league following a hard-fought 2-1 win over the Toffees away from home.

The Red Devils headed into the game coming off the back of an embarrassing 6-3 defeat to city rivals Manchester City last weekend.

Alex Iwobi opened the scoring early in the game but Manchester United came from behind to steal all three points following goals from Antony and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Before the final whistle, the home side threatened to stage a draw at least as they created some dangerous moments but the visitors held their ground.

Fernandes said after the final whistle: “This is what it is about, togetherness, make the best for the team. We conceded a goal from nothing but we played really well in the first half. In the last 20 minutes of the second half we could do better but good to get back on the winning track.”

David de Gea was called into action late in the game and his reflexes helped Manchester United return to Old Trafford with a win. The Spaniard believes the Red Devils were in total control of the game but slacked a bit in the last ten minutes.

“We controlled the game until maybe the last 10 minutes. It was massive for the confidence, we have to look forward to the next games,” De Gea said.

“It’s an honour to be here, it’s a privilege. It was great to be in goal today, with the team fighting for three points.”

Cristiano Ronaldo scored his first goal from open play this season against Everton and he did it in style. The Portuguese star came off the bench for injured Anthony Martial and scored his 700th career club goal.

David de Gea said of Ronaldo: “He’s [Cristiano Ronaldo] never been in this situation before [starting on the bench], but the way he works and trains, it’s just unbelievable. It’s not easy times for him, but he showed that he’s a great player.”
