Cristiano Ronaldo suggests Manchester United made mistake with Ralf Rangnick
Cristiano Ronaldo has claimed that Manchester United shouldn’t have appointed Ralf Rangnick as their next manager after the sacking of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Man United announced Ralf Rangnick as interim manager in November following the departure of Solskjaer in the aftermath of poor performances.
The German tactician was more or less a sporting director but because Manchester United were anxious to get a new coach after the sacking of Solskjaer and they eventually settled with the former RB Leizpig boss.
Rangnick won his opening game as United boss against Crystal Palace but things went down drastically and the Red Devils finished 6th in the Premier League with zero goal difference and last season, under his care, was described as United’s worst season in the league in recent decades.
Ronaldo wasn’t convinced by Ralf Rangnick’s appointment and accused Manchester United of not appointing a top coach as Solskjaer’s replacement.
Speaking to Piers Morgan, the Portuguese star said: “When you sack Ole Gunnar Solskjær, you should bring a top manager, not a sports director.
“In the end, deep inside me, I never saw him [Rangnick] as the boss because I saw some points that I never agreed [with].”
