Brighton and Hove Albion’s manager Robert De Zerbi has admitted that Moises Caicedo could leave the Amex Stadium before the end of the transfer window.

Brighton and Hove Albion manager Roberto De Zerbi has left the door open for Moises Caicedo to leave the club before the January transfer window closes. The Ecuador international, 21, has been the subject of interest from both Arsenal and Chelsea, with both clubs having had bids for the midfielder rejected by the Seagulls.

However, in a statement released on Friday evening, Caicedo made it clear that he is hoping to leave the AMEX Stadium before the transfer deadline on Tuesday.

De Zerbi, speaking ahead of Brighton’s FA Cup fourth round clash against Liverpool on Sunday, revealed that the club is keen to hold onto the player but that they will consider the best solution for all parties. “Moises is a good guy, we will see tomorrow and the next days what happens,” said De Zerbi. “We hope he will stay with us until the end of the season but this is a question for the club and Moises.”

It is understood that Arsenal had a £60m offer for Caicedo rejected on Friday, while Chelsea’s offer of £55m was also turned down earlier this month. The London clubs are said to be preparing improved offers, with reports suggesting that Brighton could cash in if they receive an offer of £90m.

De Zerbi also confirmed that Caicedo was left out of the squad for Sunday’s FA Cup clash against Liverpool, but did not elaborate on the reasons behind the decision.
