Chelsea submit stunning club record offer in attempt to beat Liverpool and Manchester United in race for Argentine star

Chelsea have offered a staggering fee of 120M€ + 10M€ for Enzo Fernandez according to Multiple reports across the Portuguese media.

Todd Boehly is moving fast to try and sign Enzo Fernandez from Benfica, with the Portuguese club even searching for replacements for Enzo now.

The 21-year-old has emerged as one of the game’s most sought-after young midfielders after a thrilling first season in Europe with Benfica, and he also played a key role in Argentina’s World Cup victory in Qatar.

Manchester United and Liverpool are both interested in signing Fernandez, who has been in talks with Benfica about a January move.

The player has a €120 million (£106 million) release clause in his contract with Benfica, and according to reports in Portugal, the club has already turned down a €100 million (£88.4 million) offer, insisting he will only leave if his release clause is met.

With Manchester United and Liverpool already vying for his signature, the Daily Record reports that Chelsea has surpassed them with a massive offer for the former River Plate starlet.

According to the report, Todd Boehly has proposed a deal in which Chelsea would pay more than the €127 million that Atletico Madrid paid Benfica for Joao Felix in 2019 – the club’s current record sale.

The Blues are hoping Fernandez will attempt to leave Benfica in January, despite the fact that the club is determined to keep him until the end of the season.

Following Argentina’s World Cup victory, the midfielder returned to Lisbon on Tuesday and is set to meet with his club this week to discuss Chelsea’s offer.

When asked about his future on Monday, Fernandez said: ‘I don’t know about my future or proposals, that’s what my representative is taking care of.

‘I don’t want to go into detail. I’m focused on Benfica; we play on Friday.’

However with Chelsea midfielder Kante set to leave the bridge at the end of the season and with Newcastle united set to make an offer for Jorginho, Todd Boehly is set to go all out for the young Argentine who was named the Young player of the tournament as Argentina won the world cup in Qatar.
