Chelsea sets deadline for new head coach appointment ahead of Champions League clash

Chelsea Football Club has recently sacked their head coach, Graham Potter, and is now in search of a new leader for the team. Several prominent names have been associated with the job, including Julian Nagelsmann, who is believed to be the early favorite. However, the club is apprehensive that the 33-year-old may be too inexperienced and are consequently exploring a range of other options.

One such alternative candidate is former Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino, who is currently available. Luis Enrique, former manager of Barcelona, and Luciano Spalletti of Napoli are also likely to be interviewed for the position. Zinedine Zidane is another name on the lips of many that could potentially handle the West London club.

The Times  reported that Chelsea is now working towards a deadline of April 12th to announce Potter’s successor. This is when the club is scheduled to face Real Madrid in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final at the Bernabeu. While they are relatively relaxed about interim boss Bruno Saltor continuing in charge for this game, the club ideally wants their new head coach in the dugout for what is a crucial match.

It remains to be seen who Chelsea will appoint as their new head coach, but given the club’s ambitions and expectations, it is clear that they will be looking for a high-caliber and experienced manager to lead the team to success
