Arsenal makes shock move to sign Atletico Madrid star in January transfer window
As the January transfer window continues to heat up, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is reportedly turning to the market to strengthen his side’s chances of winning the Premier League title.
Arsenal are currently five points clear of Manchester City and nine points ahead of Newcastle United in third place, but Arteta is not taking any chances and is said to be looking to bring in new recruits before the window closes.
One player who could be joining the club is Atletico Madrid attacker Joao Felix.
According to journalist Dean Jones, the Gunners are in talks with Atletico about a deal for the Portuguese international. While the loan fee is still being negotiated, Felix has proven to be a productive player with 54 goals and 29 assists in 173 senior club matches for Atletico and Benfica.
His form this season, including four goals and three assists in six La Liga starts, suggests that he could make an immediate impact at Arsenal. It will be up to Edu and Arteta to secure the right deal with Atletico in order to bring in the talented forward before the end of the month.
