Arsenal huge admirers of Denmark international with Edu and Arteta set to land target

According to Italian media, Arsenal is preparing a major offer for Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund.

The 20-year-old joined the Serie A club in a €17 million (£15 million) deal from Strum Graz last August and has made an immediate impact.

Hojlund has seven goals for Atalanta this season, and he earned his first two senior caps for Denmark last year.

According to La Repubblica, Arsenal has been monitoring the striker’s performances in Serie A this season and are now considering a summer move for the Denmark international.

According to the report, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is also a big fan of Hojlund, and the 20-year-old could be viewed as a long-term replacement for Karim Benzema.

Atalanta maintains a strong negotiating position because Hojlund is an important part of their long-term plans, and the striker has four years left on the contract he signed last summer.

Atalanta head coach Gian Piero Gasperini claimed earlier this month that Hojlund has’similar characteristics’ to Manchester City striker Erling Haaland.

‘Hojlund has a remarkable spirit, energy, and intensity, as well as technical quality. ‘He still has a lot of room for improvement,’ Gasperini added.

‘He shares many characteristics with Haaland, not just his face.

‘He’s so fast, he’s under 11 seconds over 100 metres and he’s not even trying very hard.

‘Despite his height, he has a low centre of gravity and can move his legs very quickly. I’m confident he’ll have a successful career; he’s getting stronger by the day.’
