The USA, as host nation, are odds-on favorites. The markets don’t seem fazed by the opening day loss to Colombia. But Costa Rica remain a tough nut to crack. They drew their opener, despite being under pressure for large parts, and they’ve lost just three times in the past year – a run of 17 games – and two of those defeats were against Brazil and Uruguay. They actually beat the US on American soil back in October. They might not do it here, but I would not expect them to concede many. You have to go back 15 games to find the last time they gave up more than a single goal. For that reason, I’ll be backing under 1.5 goals at 2.75.
