OK, so the odds here are hugely one-sided and it’s not hard to understand why. Barcelona may well be the best team in the world by some distance and many might not even be famliar with Guangzhou, other than Robinho and the manager, Luiz Felipe Scolari. In fact, Guangzhou haven’t lost a game since Scolari took over in early June. Which isn’t to say they’ll win only that, perhaps, the bookies are getting a little carried away. Over the past five years, the European side have won the semifinal by an average of 3.5 goals and only once have the non-Europeans scored. But Barca haven’t kept a clean sheet in four games. And Guangzhou have scored in all but 3 of 27 games with Scolari in charge. So both teams to score and Barcelona to win – at 3.25 with Ladbrokes – seems a worthwhile risk.
