Having found themselves on the right side of a five-goal thriller on Boxing Day, Wolves welcome a QPR side who’re on a downward spiral to Molineux on New Years Eve.

In collecting three points on Boxing Day, Saturday’s hosts continued on the up and are slowly but surely turning the corner. Paul Lambert’s men made it two wins in as many matches and have now suffered just the one defeat in their last five. Against a QPR side who seemingly cannot stop themselves from sinking further and further towards the foot of the table, this home match looks to be another great opportunity for Wolves to continue their upward surge.

There are two bets that make plenty of appeal ahead of this one and these are: ‘Wolves to Win’ & ‘Wolves to Score Over 1.5 Goals’ at odds of 49/50 and 5/6 respectively.

Prior to their recent victories, Lambert’s side hadn’t been in the best of form, but it was no secret that they’d faced plenty of tough opponents and were a tad unlucky. They were scoring goals regularly and were showing signs of encouragement despite failing to win. Considering their recent form, things have improved and their is plenty of reason for Wolves fans to feel optimistic ahead of their upcoming fixtures. Their side are scoring plenty of goals and playing some good football going forward. Defensively they still probably aren’t the securest side, but this might not be an issue here against a QPR side who’ve offered little in the way of forward thinking in recent weeks.

Having scored 12 goals in their last five matches overall, and nine in their last five at home, Lambert’s side should be feeling confident going into this match and it’s difficult to see how QPR will be able to stop such forward momentum.

The visitors, having conceded eight in their last five (for just one in reply), have bean leaking goals at regular intervals of late. Holloway has seen his side offer little in the way of resistance and, having lost six on the spin, you couldn’t really say that improvement looks forthcoming.

When these two recently met in the reverse of this fixture just less than one month ago, Wolves ran out 2-1 winners. Back on their own patch, given the form of both right now, the hosts should be capable of, at the very least, matching that goal tally, while winning the match probably won’t take much either.

In all honesty, QPR haven’t looked like winning recently and it would take a very brave punter indeed to side with them here. Stranger things have happened in football, but confidence is a big thing and right now there seems to be little of it among Ian Holloway’s troops, whereas Lambert’s men should be in good spirits after winning two of the bounce and are well worth backing to make it a third victory in quick succession.
