Bookmaker Ratings prediction one: Double Chance – Draw or Wolves – 1.73

Bookmaker Ratings prediction two: Wolves +1.0 Goal Handicap – 1.67

Wolves Double Chance

Wolves lost in the dying embers to Arsenal on Thursday, though Wanderers had won four away games on the spin before that and having already beaten West Ham once this term, Bruno Lage’s side could enjoy more success against the Irons on Sunday. West Ham have dropped points in four of their last five matches and with their confidence on the wane, they are worth opposing.

Wolves +1.0 Goal Handicap

Only Manchester City and Chelsea have conceded fewer goals than Wolves in the Premier League this season and the Midlanders kept West Ham off the scoresheet completely when the teams last met in November. Wolves’ defensive strength makes them a popular choice with handicap bettors and they can take full advantage of a one goal start in London this weekend.

Preliminary review and match prediction for West Ham vs Wolves

West Ham are losing ground in the race to land a top four finish this season and their return of just one victory from their last five Premier League assignments has seen them overtaken by both Manchester United and Arsenal in the standings.

The Irons’ performances at the London Stadium have been a particular concern and manager David Moyes has watched his side wilt and drop points in four of their last seven fixtures there against Brighton, Southampton, Leeds and Newcastle.

Indeed, West Ham have struggled to get the better of teams they’ve been favourites to beat and without space to counter attack into, the Hammers find it difficult to drive home their advantage.

As one of the soundest defensive units in the division, Wolves have the personnel and tactical nous to leave West Ham frustrated again on Sunday, and though Wanderers threw points away in injury time at Arsenal on Thursday, they could be worth backing to enjoy a more productive jaunt to the capital this weekend.

Wolves could leapfrog West Ham in the standings with the right result and having won four of their last five matches on the road – a run that included fine victories at Man Utd and Tottenham Hotspur – Wanderers can play without fear.

Bruno Lage’s charges were much the better team when they beat West Ham 1-0 at Molineux in November, mustering almost twice as many attempts as their beleaguered opponents (15-8) and Wolves are available at a generous price to take at least a point from the return fixture in the double chance market.

Safe Bets

Over 2.5 goals has landed in just seven of Wolves’ 25 Premier League fixtures this season – the second-lowest figure in the division behind Brighton’s – and another game of slender margins could develop when Wanderers visit West Ham. A solitary Raul Jimenez strike separated the sides before Christmas and at 1.67, the under 2.5 goals line jumps out again as a safe option on Sunday.

Get Quick Rich

Ruben Neves plays as a deep-lying playmaker for Wolves though the Portuguese midfielder is famed for his ability to hit the target from long range and the 24-year-old generally gets at least one shot away per appearance. Indeed, Neves is averaging 1.2 attempts per 90 minutes this season and you can grab 2.38 odds on the schemer testing West Ham keeper Lukasz Fabianski with at least one effort on Sunday.

West Ham vs Wolves first goalscorer

Wolves’ team isn’t packed full of prolific players, though the match winner from their last meeting with West Ham in November, Raul Jiminez, is as likely as anyone to break the deadlock. Four of the Mexican’s five Premier League strikes this term were opening goals and at 7.0, the 30-year-old is available at a tempting price to deliver the goods again.

West Ham vs Wolves Team News

Fullback Arthur Masuaku and Vladimir Coufal are still out for West Ham while Manuel Lanzini is rated as doubtful. Angelo Ogbonna remains a long-term absentee.

Wolves have close to a full-strength squad available this weekend and Bruno Lage chould choose to make some changes given the short turnaround between fixtures.

Starting Lineups

West Ham: Fabianski – Johnson, Dawson, Zouma, Cresswell – Soucek, Rice – Bowen, Fornals, Benrahma – Antonio

Wolves: Sa – Kilman, Coady, Saiss – Jonny, Dendoncker, Neves, Marcal – Podence, Neto, Jimenez

Highlighted Player

Pedro Neto

Portuguese flier Pedro Neto has made two recent substitute appearances for Wolves as he steps up his comeback from a long-term injury and the attacker looks ready to start following a dangerous cameo against Arsenal on Thursday. The 21-year-old was a joy to watch before his injury and keen to make up for lost time, Neto can cause numerous problems for the West Ham defence.
