Despite being 2-1 up against Northampton Town going into the last 10 minutes of their League Cup tie they still managed to lose on penalties. A Premier League team, albeit weakened, should not be doing that against a League One side.
Manager Tony Pulis has still only made the one signing this summer in Matt Phillips, the Welshman has constantly reiterated his desire to sign another five players. Whether the new investment group trusts him to spend their money wisely remains to be seen. With just days left until the end of the transfer window, West Brom need to act faster than ever but make sure they buy quality rather than just bodies to fill the squad.
Middlesbrough secured an excellent first away win of the season last week against Sunderland. Although they were knocked out by Championship side Fulham in midweek (I hope you followed my tip on that one!), manager Aitor Karanka will not be too concerned by that as they look to full focus on the Premier League to ensure survival.
The bookies are giving profitable odds on both teams winning this match at Sunday lunchtime. My gut tells me to go with West Brom.
