Only one of these teams realistically has something to play for with Liverpool looking to consolidate their place in the top four whilst Watford are drifting towards the end of the season with safety all but secured.

Watford have actually been on a fairly decent run recently with three wins in their last five. However, the two remaining matches, losses against Tottenham and Hull City respectively, were dire performances from the Hornets.

Walter Mazzarri’s side’s performance at either end of the pitch seems to depend on where they play these days. On their travels, they have failed to score in any of their last four, conceding nine in the process with no clean sheet since October. At home however, they have been absolutely fantastic with three consecutive wins to nil in their last three matches and just one loss in their last eight at Vicarage Road in all competitions. Having said that, their home record against the league’s top sides is not great with three losses against the four top sides they have played.

Liverpool’s fantastic run of no losses and five wins in their last seven came to an abrupt end last time out with a 2-1 loss at home to Crystal Palace.

The Reds have focused heavily on the attacking side of their game this season and their goal total of 70 is the best in the league whilst they have also found the back of the net in each of their last ten matches. However, they have an incredibly soft underbelly and their Goals Against record of 42 is by far the worst in the top four and is indeed the worst in the top seven. Furthermore, they have kept just one clean sheet in their last nine.

Jurgen Klopp’s side have been decent on their travels in the last few weeks with two consecutive wins and no losses in their last three, scoring four and conceding just twice in the process.

With Watford being useful at home and Liverpool on a decent run at the moment, this isn’t the easiest fixture to call. However, there is plenty of hopes for punters. We saw seven goals in the reverse fixture back in November and you can certainly expect the net to bulge a few times at Vicarage Road on Monday night as well. ‘Over 3.5 Goals’ looks a good bet at 9/5.
