This match sees two of the more conservative teams of the division lock horns on the opening weekend of the Russian Premier League season.
Terek looked like challenging for the European spots last season but unfortunately fell away at the final hurdles. They have lost influential midfielder Maciej Rybus to Olympique Lyonnais but have replaced him with several good signings including the once highly-rated Romanian Gabriel Torje. Watching the side from Grozny is always interesting as never really know what’s coming next, particularly with their extravagant owner Ramzan Kadyrov – a man who wields a large amount of power in Russia.
Krylia Sovetov had one of the best defences in the league last season with only three teams conceding more goals than them as the newly-promoted side finished in 9th place. However, goal-scoring was a huge problem and Franky Vercauteren’s team only found the back of the net a mere 19 times throughout the whole season. The Wings of the Soviets are yet to sign a striker so the start of the season could be tough for them, however, if they find one they could be set for a good season.
Being at home and, against a side who have trouble scoring, Terek are unsurprisingly the favourites. However, there is no value backing them for a straight win.
This will be a low scoring game so there are a couple of bets I would advise for this match.
Firstly I would back Terek to win to nil at 28/17 for the reasons mentioned earlier. Although, if you want something less risky, I would go for Terek to win and under 3.5 goals as this bet allows for a surprise Krylia Sovetov goal.
