Australian Open final match between Stefanos Tsitsipas and Novak Djokovic. The match will start on January 29 at 08:30.
Bookmaker Ratings: Prediction #1 – Handicap (-5.5) for Djokovic – 1.916.
Bookmaker Ratings: Prediction #2 – Total Games Under 39 – 1.74.
Djokovic is approaching the final in fine form and it seems even the well-played Tsitsipas cannot stop Nole on his way to another win at the Australian Open. Novak leads the way against Stef with a score of 10-3.
He defeated Stefanos four times last season, beating him on the Rome clay court and then winning on the Indoors in Atlanta, Paris and Turin. We believe that the next encounter between Djokovic and Tsitsipas will end with a win for the former world #1.
Djokovic is closest to his tenth Australian Open title. Novak came into the final in fine form and Tsitsipas is unlikely to seriously hamper him. If Djokovic wins the Grand Slam tournaments, he would have to tie Rafael Nadal for the most wins.
The Spaniard now has 22 Grand Slams, while Djokovic has 21. We are confident that Novak will do his best to win the upcoming battle, which, it seems to us, will be over rather quickly.
Tsitsipas reached the final at the Australian Open for the first time in his career.
Stef has only had one real challenge at this tournament so far.
In the fourth round, he narrowly defeated Jannik Sinner despite leading with a score of 2-0 in sets. Jannik was able to bounce back, but Stef eventually played the deciding set perfectly.
Remarkably, Tsitsipas managed to win 22 break points in his match against Sinner.
Tsitsipas defeated Jiri Lehecka (6-3, 7-6, 6-4) in the quarter-finals and then stopped Karen Khachanov (7-6, 6-4, 6-7, 6-3) in the semi-finals. Karen played a good game on the whole but Stef looked stronger foremost thanks to his solid first serve game. Stef managed to take 84% of the points on the first ball.
Tsitsipas has won his last 13 matches in a row on a hard court.
For Djokovic, this will be his tenth final at the Australian Open. Before that, he had never lost a decisive match at a Grand Slam tournament in Melbourne.
In Novak’s case, the only intrigue was the tear in his left leg. Nole was troubled by a thigh injury at the beginning of the tournament and he even hinted that he might withdraw.
However, after about the third match, it became clear that the drama was over – Djokovic could play at full strength again.
Novak defeated Alex De Minaur (6-2, 6-1, 6-2) in the fourth round before quietly beating Andrei Rublev (6-1, 6-2, 6-4).
The semi-finals weren’t anything interesting either, with Djokovic only giving up eight games to Tommy Paul (7-5, 6-1, 6-2).
Djokovic has won his last 40 consecutive matches played in Australia.
