Oldham Athletic v Millwall Betting Tips: Lack of goals on that cards at Boundary Park

These two League One sides are in excellent form, albeit at opposite ends of the table, with survival hopefuls Oldham Athletic taking on play-off chasers Millwall.

A couple of months ago it looked like Oldham would really be struggling to stay in League One but now, after three wins in their last five, they have managed to climb out of the relegation zone and up to 19th. The Lactics may still only be one point away from the drop-zone but, if they continue their winning ways, they should be fine.

Goals have been and still are a problem for Oldham and they are the lowest scorers in the division with just 21 goals – only Premier League Middlesbrough have a worse record in the entire Football League. However, they have managed to pick up results thanks to a strong back-line which has conceded just 33 in 33 – the sixth-best in the league. New manager John Sheridan has certainly brought in a winning mentality to the football club since his arrival.

Oldham may still have one of the worst home records in League One but it is certainly worth noting that they have also won four of their last five matches at Boundary Park and have conceded just 15 times in 16 league games on home turf so far this campaign.

Millwall could only manage a draw against lowly Chesterfield last time out following their third cup shock victory against Premier League opposition – this time in the form of champions Leicester City. However, they are still just one point off the play-offs with a game in hand following a run of 11 without defeat in the league and 14 overall.

Much like Oldham, the Lions have been fantastic at the back in recent times and have not conceded a goal in over 10 hours of football in all competitions. This of course means that they do not require too much firepower to dispose of opponents – although they saw this lack of potency cost them on Tuesday night.

Away form has been a mixed bag for Neil Harris’s side and, although they have not lost in their last four matches away from The Den, they have only won one of them and even that was against bottom of the table Coventry City.

With these two teams being in decent form, I find the overall result hard to predict. However, with neither of them being free scoring sides, I doubt we will see a goal-fest here. A really tight game is expected – a game where one goal will likely settle it. ‘Under 1.5 Goals’, at 2/1, makes plenty of appeal.
