Notts County v Morecambe is a fixture that simply screams goals. Both look good going forward, while there is plenty of defensive concern surrounding each team too. In reality, it’s hard to envisage an outcome that doesn’t involve several goals hitting the net.
Starting with the hosts, Notts County have made a reasonable start to the season and, having won five, drawn two and lost four, they find themselves in 8th position. Having shipped no fewer than 21 goals, Morecambe have conceded more than any team in the entire division and, at times, have looked all over the place defensively. While this isn’t a positive sign in terms of their progression in the division, it certainly bodes well in terms of backing goals here.

The fact that this pair have been poor defensively is definitely a positive, but what’s perhaps even more eye catching is the fact that they’ve both done well going forward. Notts County have scored more than the majority of the teams around them in the table, while Morecambe boast a better scoring record than nearly all of the teams currently residing in the bottom half of the table.
The numbers in their recent games add up very nicely too. Both teams have scored in four of the last five Notts County matches, while the exact same can be said for Morecambe in their last five. Three or more goals have hit the net in four of the last five for both also. In addition, a combination of ‘Over 2.5 & Both Teams to Score’ has occurred in four of the last five matches that Notts County have played in front of a home crowd, as well as in four of Morecambe’s last five on the road.
A second bet worth being on here is ‘Over 3.5 Goals’ at 7/4. Quite simply, whatever way you look at this fixture, goals look on the menu.
As the hosts, playing against a side who’re currently below them in the table, Notts County will feel this is a winnable game and will likely play on the front foot. In doing so, you’d be surprised if they failed to create numerous scoring opportunities against a questionable defence. At the same time, though, Morecambe should get plenty of their own chances, especially on the counter. After all, Notts County don’t exactly boast the sturdiest of defences either. In truth, a reasonably open, attacking game is expected.
The fact that more than three goals were scored in three of the last five Notts County matches, as well as in three of the last five Morecambe matches, also bodes well.
