Nottingham Forest will go head to head against Southampton on matchday 35 of 38 of the English Premier League 2022/23 season.
Tournament – Premier League;
Date – 08/05/2023;
Kick-Off – 21:00 CET;
Venue – City Ground (Nottingham)
Nottingham won their last home league match when they went against all odds to beat Brighton 3-1. They are capable of repeating the same victory over Southampton, who have been dreadful in away matches.
Southampton may be dreadful in away games but they have somewhat found a way to get on the scoreboard. I feel the Saints would only get on the scoreboard to lose by a minimal margin to Nottingham Forest.
They succumbed to a disappointing 2-1 defeat to Brentford last weekend despite leading 1-0 at halftime. Nottingham are one of the candidates fighting to remain in the top flight after matchday 34 and are aware that avoiding defeat in their remaining home matches could help them remain afloat.
They also suffered a similar setback as Nottingham Forest last weekend when they lost 3-1 to Newcastle United after leading 1-0 at halftime. Southampton are at the bottom of the table and have not won any of their last five away league matches, three defeats and two draws.
The Tricky Trees: Navas, Niakhate, Felipe, Worrall, Aurier, Mangala, Danilo, Lodi, Gibbs-White, Jonhson, Awoniyi
The Saints: McCarthy, Walker-Peters, Bella-Kotchap, Bednarek, Lyanco, Armstrong, Lavia, Ward-Prowse, Djenepo, Akcaraz, Sulemana
Sunday’s game will be played at the City Ground [Nottingham].
