These two sides are both going for promotion this season and have started their respective seasons well.
Alex Neil has managed to keep his core squad together following their relegation from the Premier League last season with the only noticeable departure being Nathan Redmond to Southampton. The Canaries have brought in young and highly rated attacking midfielders Alex Pritchard and Sergi Canos in Redmond’s place as they look to bounce back immediately. In addition they have brought in goalkeeper Michael McGovern who impressed for Northern Ireland at Euro 2016.
Wednesday missed out on promotion in heartbreaking fashion last season as they lost the playoff final to Hull City. However, there are no signs they have given up on their promotion target as they have been busy in the transfer market. The Owls have managed to get rid of some dead wood and bring in Almen Abdi from Watford for just over £3m alongside Steven Fletcher on a free transfer – a proven goalscorer at the highest level who could prove to be the Championship signing of the season.
As previously mentioned both of these sides have started well. Norwich cruised to a 4-1 win away at Blackburn Rovers whilst Wednesday secured a vital 1-0 win against fellow promotion hopefuls Aston Villa at Hillsborough.
This should be an exciting match with both teams capable of scoring goals. I am not sure who will come out on top and it could be close. With this in mind I will go for a total of ‘Over 2.5 goals’ at 23/20. Both sides have it in them to score goals, while neither is the sturdiest at the back. It’s also encouraging that each of Norwich’s last five matches have seen at least three goals go in.
