These two sides are quite evenly matched so this League One fixture on Sunday should be an interesting affair. Port Vale are currently two points ahead of MK Dons but, with both teams’ goal difference exactly the same (15 for and 14 against), there isn’t much between the pair.

MK Dons have had a somewhat disappointing start since returning back to League One following last year’s relegation from the Championship. Karl Robinson’s side should really be pushing the automatic promotion spots but an inconsistent campaign so far has rooted them in and around mid-table. However, a decent run of one defeat in the last five games has seen them start a steady climb to ninth place.

Staffordshire side Port Vale are one of those teams that seem to float around League One – never threatening the promotion spots or finding themselves in danger of relegation. However, this season has seen them make a bit of a push for the top six. Having said that, like MK Dons, they are probably too inconsistent to hold their place for long enough. After a good start of three wins in four their last five results read: Draw, Win, Loss, Win, Loss – not the sort of inconsistency you want when challenging towards the top of the table.

As shown by the previously mentioned goal difference, these two teams like to score goals but are both pretty vulnerable at the back – the hallmark of an inconsistent team.

The form-book certainly suggest that goals could be on the menu at Stadium mk on Sunday. Six out of Port Vale’s last seven games have seen more than two goals go in, whilst all of their last three away games have also see more than two.

The script is pretty similar for MK Dons with five out of 11 total matches this season having over three or more goals, with three out of their five home games also seeing over 2.5.

‘Over 2.5 Goals’ is definitely the way to go at 10/11.

If you fancy something more rewarding then I would look at Port Vale’s ‘Alex Jones to Score Anytime’ at 2/1. With MK Dons’ defence looking disjointed, the striker on loan from Birmingham should get a few chances and, with his recent form, you would expect him to hit the back of the net.

Jones is currently the second top scorer in League One with six goals and will be even more motivated now after Gary Rowett, manager of parent club Birmingham, questioned his future at the Blues despite his recent form for Vale.
