Michigan Wolverines
Michigan’s offense is guided by QB JJ McCarthy, who is 230/314 with 73.2% of his passes completed for 2,851 yards, 22 TDs and 4 INTs. To help him in the aerial game, the team has WRs Roman Wilson, who has 735 yards and 12 TDs, in addition to Cornelius Johnson, with 579 yards and 1 TD. TE Colston Loveland has 585 yards and 4 TDs received. In the running game, the team has RB Blake Corum, who is one of the team’s stars with 1,111 rushing yards and 25 TDs scored.
The defense has been playing very well and only gives up 93.1 yards per game in the ground game, in addition to 3.03 yards per carry and 9 TDs. In the aerial game, the team gives up just 150.2 yards per game, in addition to just 7 TDs and 16 INTs.
Washington Huskies
Washington’s attack is guided by QB Michael Penix Jr, who is 336/504 with 65.9% pass completion for 4,648 air yards, in addition to 35 TDs and 9 INTs. To help him in the aerial game, the team has several relevant WRs such as Rome Odunze, who has 1,553 yards and 13 TDs, as well as Ja’Lynn Polk with 1,122 yards and 9 TDs and Jalen McMillan with 526 yards and 4 TDs. In the ground game, the team has RB Dillon Johnson, who has 1,162 yards and 16 TDs scored.
The defense has played well above what it did last year. In the ground game they give up an average of 137 yards per game, in addition to 4.40 yards per carry and 21 TDs. In the aerial game, they give up 267.1 yards per game, in addition to 23 TDs and 16 INTs.
Conclusion:
Michigan’s defense faces an offense that isn’t even close to anything they’ve seen this year. The Wolverines’ game plan put them in some easier games, but the defense proved to be supreme whenever it was required. Now they will play against an offense that has a great QB, three excellent WRs, a good RB and an offensive line that is among the best in College Football in both areas (passing and running).
On the other side, Michigan’s attack must face a defense that gives up yards, but manages to force turnovers, something that should also be crucial in this final. Washington’s defense gave up yards in the aerial game in the game against Texas and playing here against one of the best RBs in College Football I believe they will give up a good amount of yards again. Corum has a lot of running attempts and I believe he can surpass this mark in the final.
