Premier League high-flyers play host to League Two opposition on Sunday when they welcome Plymouth Argyle to Anfield for the FA Cup 3rd round.

Both of these two have been enjoying pleasing campaigns in their respective divisions, although, what with the huge gulf in class, there can only be one winner here. Plymouth will of course be relishing the chance to face players of the highest quality at one of the country’s most iconic stadiums, but, realistically, it would appear as if this is where their FA Cup run will both peak and end. Liverpool, even with changes in personnel forecast, should have far too much for their League Two opposition and are expected to win convincingly.

At odds of 13/10, ‘Liverpool to Win & Over 3.5 Goals’ is the bet to go for. The hosts have been in fine-scoring form this season and should certainly be capable of treating their fans to yet another impressive attacking performance here.

Having scored no less than 48 goals so far this campaign, Liverpool are by far the Premier League’s top-scorers and it’s not often that they’ve failed to overpower teams going forward. In players such as Sadio Mané, Roberto Firmino and Daniel Sturridge (to name just a few) they seem to have found the perfect blend of both raw pace and movement off the ball, making The Reds a real handful for any defence, never mind one plying their trade in the fourth tier of English football.

In addition, nine of Liverpool’s Premier League matches this season would’ve seen an ‘Over 3.5 Goals’ bet land. The fact that they also managed to put five past Championship side Burton in the League Cup also bodes well.

Derek Adams’ Plymouth side have certainly played well in League Two this season, but performing against a side from the top division, a very good one at that, is likely to be somewhat beyond them. Having scored 37 goals in their own league, Plymouth have looked fairly useful going forward, but they’ve also conceded 25 against opposition of a similar standard. With this in mind, it’s certainly not difficult to imagine the attacking force of Liverpool enjoying untold amounts of joy in the final third.

Even if manager Jurgen Klopp decides to rotate somewhat, which is fairly likely, Liverpool should have the required quality to put Plymouth firmly in their place and can progress to the 4th round in good style.
