Las Palmas are in good form right now, and have successfully secured their place in La Liga for next season. They defeated Real Sociedad, Valencia and Deportivo La Coruna in their last three games. Things are far worse for Sporting Gijon, who are currently in the relegation zone. So they’ll have to fight hard for every single point.
I doubt Sporting Gijon will offer a style of play that makes for an open game here. They conceded only one goal in their last two games: 0:0 against Levante and 0:1 against Celta Vigo. They know how to defend and they’ll try to play things as safe as they can against Las Palmas.
So we can go for total match goals under 2.5 here. Sporting Gijon will be happy with one point. I don’t think that Abelardo’s team will go forward without looking back.
