The Los Angeles lakers had just 73 days to recover from their final match of last season after winning the NBA title for the 17th time.In their opening match of season 2020-2021 they lost to city rivals Clippers.Lebron James and Anthony Davis had a quiet game with 22 and 18 points respectively.Lebron played only 28 minutes in that game and it is expected for this to continue in the next matches as most players have not reached their peak fitness levels yet and the coaches wouldn’t want to risk any unwanted injuries for their star players.Harrell with 17 points and 10 rebounds and newcomer Schroder with 14 points and 12 rebounds had double doubles but that didn’t help the Lakers as they suffered their first defeat.
Mavericks
At 22 Luca Doncic is an MVP candidate and a good performance against the champions will send a message to everyone how determined he is to help his team do better than last season.The Mavericks also lost their opening match against Phoenix by 4 points in a game in which Doncic scored 32 points.He needs more help from his teammates especially Tim Hardaway and Josh Richardson if they want to overcome the Lakers.They shot 42 percent against the suns and they need to do better than that to beat LA.
Verdict
We think the Lakers will find themselves back on track.It could be a close game but we think the Lakers can win this one.
