These two sides have had completely different starts to their seasons. Krasnodar are looking like genuine title contenders whilst Lokomotiv are yet to win so far this campaign.
Krasnodar made an absolutely flying start to the season and were sitting pretty at the top of the league for the opening weeks. However, a loss at potential fellow title challengers Spartak Moscow saw the Bulls slip down to 4th. This poor result carried on into Europe where they failed to beat Albanian side Partizani Tirana in the Europa League qualifier on Thursday night – although having won the first leg 4-0, you can see why Oleg Kononov’s side took their foot off the gas.
Yuri Semin has returned for his fourth stint as Lokomotiv Moscow manager. He won the Russian Premier League with the Railroaders back in 2002 and 2004 and is hoping to reignite a title challenge from the Muscovites. However, he will not take charge for their match against Krasnodar on Sunday.
It has been a poor start from Lokomotiv in terms of wins but to their credit they have remained unbeaten. Although, maintaining their unbeaten start against Krasnodar, never mind picking up three points, is somewhat unlikely.
