Two teams who experienced contrasting results in their last Bundesliga outings come together on Sunday afternoon. Having been demolished 8-0 by league leaders Bayern, Hamburg will be hoping to bounce back here, whereas Hertha, who beat Frankfurt 2-0 at home, will be looking to kick-on.

Until that thrashing last weekend, Hamburg had started to acquit themselves well in the Bundesliga, winning three of their last four prior to that. Considering away trips to the Allianz Arena aren’t expected to yield anything other than defeat for plenty of teams in this division, it’s fancied that the aforementioned hammering won’t have left any lasting damage.

In their respective home and away matches, goals have been a fairly common theme in recent times and goals are certainly expected to arrive in this fixture. ‘Both Teams to Score’ is the bet that catches the eye here.

Although Hamburg initially struggled in the goals department this season, they’ve got their act together lately and have started to find the net far more regularly, particularly at home. At the Volksparkstadion, Markus Gisdol’s side have only failed to score on three occasions and have found the back of the net in each of their last eight home matches, scoring a total of 11 goals in doing so. Such stats are a real positive ahead of this one considering that Hertha have conceded at least once in each of their last five league matches on the road.

Hertha may have resumed winning ways last time out, but, away from home, it’s been a different story for the team from Germany’s capital. Die Alte Dame (The Old Lady) have managed to breach the opposition back-line in three of their last five on the road, and there’s certainly a good chance of that happening here, but defensively they’ve been well below par, conceding 11 goals during this time.

Keeping a clean sheet is something that these two, in their respective home and away matches, have largely neglected this season. Hamburg have prevented the opposing side from scoring in just two of their ten at home, while Hertha have also only recorded two shutouts on the road.

With neither side looking all that sturdy at the back of late, it probably won’t take much for either to get on the score-sheet and, therefore, backing ‘Both Teams to Score’ makes plenty of sense.
