Gillingham and AFC Wimbledon are two teams who’ve been plagued by inconsistency over the course of this season. On their day both are capable of mixing it as this level, but the pair have failed to put their best foot forward far too often hence why they find themselves well down the table in 18th and 15th respectively.

The one thing that has remained constant for both, particularly since the turn of the year, is the inability to keep clean sheets. Keeping this in mind, the bet that stands out here is ‘Both Teams to Score’. While neither side may be among the highest scorers in this division, it shouldn’t take much to breach the rearguard of either.

In front of a home crowd is where Gillingham have been at their best this season, but they’ve hardly impressed and have kept just two clean sheets (in 15 matches). However, at the same time, they’ve also only failed to score on one occasion when playing at Priestfield. It’s fair to say that The Gills have become known as something of a ‘Both Teams to Score’ specialist on their own patch.

Admittedly, the visitors don’t boast anywhere near as an impressive ‘Both Teams to Score’ record on the road as Gillingham do at home, but they do come into this fixture having found the net in each of their last three games, and certainly won’t be without chances against a Gillingham team who’ve kept just two clean sheets in 32 league matches this season.

With these two slipping down closer to the drop-zone (Gillingham are dangerously close) this really is an important game for both. The need for points could force both to have a real go at each other and, with the shoddy defending that’s been on show from both during this season, it would be no surprise to see at least one goal go in at either end.

The fact that Gillingham – who’ve seen both teams score in 75% of their matches (80% at home) – currently lead the division in the ‘Both Teams to Score’ charts also bodes well.
