The Freiburg boys arrive at this point in time following defeat last time out, but it’s not all doom and gloom, as the hosts gave a reasonable account of themselves against the league leaders, losing by just a single goal. However, Sunday’s visitors have started to improve recently and now appear to be moving in the right direction, even if they’ve yet to gather full speed.
Oliver Glasner’s side are now unbeaten in two, collecting their first win in four last time out. Prior to their away-day win at Furth, the travellers earned a point against Leipzig, which is never easy to do, so confidence should be high in the away dressing room ahead of Sunday’s clash.
Frankfurt have improved of late, or at the very least, they’ve started to pick up some more encouraging results, though is that enough to fancy them here? Given how strong the hosts have been, probably not.
Somewhat strangely, the visitors tend to do better when they can play on the break against the more dominant sides, which is why they picked up positive results against both Wolfsburg and Bayern on the road, but their rather weak efforts against the likes of Bielefeld and Bochum don’t bode well.
To keep things simple, the hosts have produced better at home, in all areas, than Frankfurt on the road, so if you want to play this fixture, siding with a home win appeals most. In truth, with the gap between Freiburg’s efforts at home and Frankfurt’s exploits on the road being as big as it is, the hosts could easily be shorter and likely will be by the time 14:30 on Sunday afternoon arrives.
