Before that, Cressy stopped Reilly Opelka (6-3, 6-1), Dan Evans (7-6, 6-4), Cameron Norrie (7-5, 7-5) and Jack Draper (7-6, 6-7, 6-3). It was a case where Maxim’s distinctive style proved most effective.
Interestingly, Cressy reached the final in Melbourne shortly before the Australian Open but has had a disastrously prolonged losing streak since the AO.
Cressy will play in the main draw at Wimbledon for the first time.
