Espanyol
After losing the last week at the Vallecas stadium against Rayo Vallecano by a score of 1-0, Espanyol return to the RCDE Stadium, where they have taken 13 points from a possible 15 in the last five games, a top team record.
This season Espanyol are showing two totally different versions, one very bad when they play away and another wonderful version when they play at the RCDE Stadium. The difference is so great that it can be seen in the points won; in eight away games they have only managed three points while in eight home games they have managed 17 points. There is no comparison.
With only two goals conceded in their last five home games, Espanyol have been, along with Rayo Vallecano and Real Madrid, the best team in this aspect.
Levante
Sixteen games into the season and Levante have yet to win a game in La Liga Santander, recording eight draws and eight defeats. It’s too early to say for sure that they will be relegated this season, but it’s not normal not to have won a single game so far.
Having conceded 28 goals in 16 games, Levante are the second highest conceding team after Cadiz. If we add to the goals conceded so far, the goals scored by them, Levante’s average total goals per game would be 2.56 total goals per game.
It is difficult to explain Levante’s situation, as they do not have a bad team at all, in fact at the beginning of the season they were expected to occupy a mid-table position. Something must be going on within the club that we have not been aware of and that is affecting their sporting results.
A match in which we see a clear favourite, which is Espanyol, for several reasons. As we have mentioned before, Espanyol are a great team at home, on a par with the best teams in the competition, so we see no reason for them to lower their level against a team like Levante. In addition, Levante, following the trend of their season, are not getting back on their feet, and we don’t think they will do so in this game either.
