It’s match-day two in the Danish Superliga, where, on Saturday, Esbjerg host last season’s champions FC Copenhagen. These two sides come into this fixture having made somewhat different starts to the new campaign. Esbjerg lost 4-0 away to Brondby, whereas Copenhagen cruised to a 3-0 victory against Lyngby.

Copenhagen are generally a top side in this division, couple this with the fact that they are reigning champions, as well as recording a big victory on match-day one and it’s easy to see how they’re odds-on favourites to win this game, despite being away from home. The bet that catches the eye isn’t an away win though, nor a home one. The combination bet of ‘Over 2.5 Goals & Both Teams To Score’ is the selection that makes most appeal here at odds of 6/4.

In recent times this has been a fixture that generally throws up plenty of goals. In fact, four of the last five matches played between these two has ended with at least three goals and both teams hitting the back of the net.

As one of the top teams in the country, Copenhagen are capable of posing a serious attacking threat and, against a side who aren’t exactly the most astute defensively, they should be up to causing some damage. On the other hand though, If Copenhagen dictate possession as expected then they will have to deal with counter-attacks from the home side. Therefore conceding certainly isn’t out of the question for the visitors. Especially since they have been unable shut Esbjerg out in the eight of their last ten meetings.

Esbjerg are more than capable of scoring goals, especially at home, but at the same time they are somewhat poor at keeping clean sheets. The fact that they boasted the leagues highest BTTS percentage (67%) last season is ample evidence of this. In addition the hosts were also involved in games with more than two goals 61% of the time last season, the leagues second highest.

All in all there can be no denying that Copenhagen are the better side here and will likely come out of this game with three points; however, it is fancied that they will do so without keeping a clean sheet.
