Croatia without Modric means they lose from 25% to 50% of their offensive potential. A draw would be enough for both Spain and Croatia to qualify in first and second respectively. However, coming second means facing Italy in the Round of 16, Germany in the Quarters, and France in the semifinal so with this in mind Spain will want to ensure they top the group. Croatia will probably erect a barricade as they know it is hard for them to develop their game without Modric and Spain usually struggle to open these defences. The draw is 21/10 – high but also relatively low, which underlines how likely it is.
