This League Two clash is between two sides who are aiming for the play-offs this season as Cambridge United host Blackpool at The Abbey Stadium.

Cambridge have been in fantastic form recently having dropped points just once in their last seven matches and even that was a draw, placing them in 9th and just one point off the play-offs, whilst they also put up a good fight in their FA Cup loss against Championship promotion hopefuls Leeds United on Monday night.

As you would expect from a team in their form, Shaun Derry’s side are pretty good at both ends of the pitch with respectable statistics of 35 scored and 26 conceded. Although they have only kept two clean sheets in the last six, The U’s do not tend to let in more than one goal per match and the last time they did was against the country’s in-form team Wycombe Wanderers back in mid November.

After losing three on the bounce at home, Cambridge have recovered to claim victory in each of their last three League Two clashes at the Abbey Stadium, scoring nine and conceding just two.

Blackpool have been on a rather dismal run in recent times with no win in any competition in the four matches since a 1-0 win away at Hartlepool United on Boxing Day. Having said that, they are still hovering just outside the play-off places by five points thanks to a run of four wins in five matches prior to Christmas. Gary Bowyer’s side have lost their goal-scoring touch recently having scored just once in their last four league matches.

With such a poisonous atmosphere at Blackpool’s home ground of Bloomfield Road at the moment, it is not that surprising that they have been better on the road with no defeats in their last four matches in all competitions on their travels.

Although Blackpool have been good on the road, I cannot overlook Cambridge here given the confidence they must be feeling right now and I think 6/4 is certainly a good price on the home win. As touched on above, Sean Derry’s men can do no wrong and are strongly fancied to resume winning ways now facing opposition from their own division.
