Brentford vs Bournemouth prediction for Saturday’s Championship promotion play-off semi-final second leg clash at Brentford Community Stadium in London. After losing the first leg 1-0, Brentford host Bournemouth in a chance for both teams to reach the playoff final. Follow on for our free prediction and betting tips.
Brentford to get their end of season form back
Brentford finished third in the English Championship regular season after a remarkable finish to the season which saw The Bees win their last four matches and not lose a game in their last 12 matches with Bournemouth being one of their casualties in that run. This is Brentford’s tenth attempt to win promotion through the playoffs but they have failed in all of them.
In the 1st leg of the semi-final in Bournemouth, Brentford were the better side in terms of ball possession with 58%. Coach Frank Thomas’s team managed 11 goal attempts but just one of them was on target. Brentford goalkeeper Raya had three crucial saves that kept his team not losing by a bigger margin which would have made their task even more unattainable in the second leg.
Bournemouth two matches away from a PL return
It was a somewhat surprising result by Bournemouth who finished sixth in the regular season of the Championship beating Brentford 1-0 in the first leg. The Cherries will have to play for a draw at least to qualify for the final of the play-offs at Wembley. Bournemouth ended the regular season with three straight losses but they overcame that in the first leg.
Defensively, coach Jonathan Woodgate needs to maintain their first-leg performance. The Bees had just one clean sheet in eight matches prior to their match at Vitality Stadium. Bournemouth have conceded in every game of their last four away games despite having won three of them. Woodgate will rely on his attack though as they have scored in 15 of their last 18 matches.

Bournemouth were relegated from the Premier League last season. The cherries hope to make it back to the top flight the first time asking.
