Brentford’s four-match unbeaten run came to an end on Saturday as they were beaten 1-0 by automatic promotion contenders Huddersfield Town (hope you followed my tip on that one). The Bees currently sit in 14th, safe in the Championship for another season but with no realistic hope of the play-offs.

As mentioned on the write-up for their match against Huddersfield, Brentford are a side who focus mainly on attack and, in fact, that loss against the Terriers at the weekend was the first time that Dean Smith’s side have failed to score in eight games in all competitions. Defensively though they are a liability with no clean sheet since 31st January and 52 goals conceded in 36 games overall so far this campaign.

Prior to that defeat at the weekend, the Bees were on a three-match unbeaten run at London Road and had scored 10 goals in just three games at Griffin Park. They failed to find the back of the net against Huddersfield last time out but Wolves should be a simpler game on paper.

After six defeats on the bounce in all competitions, Wolves have recovered to pick up four points from their last two matches after coming away victorious in a vital clash against Rotherham United. This does mean Wolves are outside the relegation zone, however, only by a one point cushion.

Conceding goals had been a big problem for Paul Lambert’s men prior to these last couple of games and they had not kept a clean sheet in any competition in their previous nine matches. Fortunately for them though they have showed signs of improvement by keeping clean sheets against both Ipswich and Rotherham in their last two. Having said that, these were hardly the most potent of opponents.

Form at Molineux has been pretty woeful for Wolves this season and so they have had to rely on their away form which is surprisingly good – 21 points from 18 matches. Unfortunately though, even that is starting to slide with just one point gained from a possible nine in their last three league matches on their travels.

Brentford may have lost at the weekend but they can still be classed as an in form side – unlike Wolves, despite their win against Rotherham. The home win, at 6/5, is worth getting behind here.
